Calculation of pipe insulation

Calculation of pipe insulation

Immediate calculation of the surface area of the pipes and insulation of the hydraulic circuit

Welcome to the “Pipe Insulation Calculation” program. This program was designed and created by Itieffe to provide a complete guide for calculating the thermal insulation for hydraulic pipes. Insulation is an essential aspect of thermal engineering and energy efficiency, helping to reduce heat or coolness losses in piping systems, ensuring efficient and sustainable operation.

We will provide you with an overview of what you can expect from this program, which will provide the fundamental concepts, calculation methodologies for thermal insulation of pipes.

Pipe insulation plays a fundamental role in numerous applications, from the distribution of hot or cold fluids in buildings to industry, to fluid transport systems in the chemical, petrochemical and energy sectors. Adequate insulation helps maintain the desired temperature of the fluids, reducing energy losses to a minimum and contributing to significant energy savings.

Insulation is essential to ensure energy efficiency, thermal comfort and safety of piping systems. This program will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to select and calculate thermal insulation effectively, contributing to the success of your projects and the optimization of thermal systems.

We are happy to accompany you on this learning journey and provide you with the tools necessary to successfully manage this discipline. Your mastery of this topic is critical to improving energy efficiency and contributing to the sustainability of thermal applications in a variety of industries.

Calculation of pipe insulation

Easy program that, with the insertion of a few values, immediately calculates the surface of the pipes and the insulation of the hydraulic circuit under consideration.

Valid for the calculation of pipes in millimeters and nominal diameter (DN).

In addition to the thickness of the insulation, it is possible to enter values of the scraps (percentage of materials that are lost in processing).

Instructions

How to proceed

Let's consider the following drawing:

  1. first make the choice between “millimeters and nominal diameter (DN);
  2. enter the thickness of the insulation;
  3. insert the scraps (losses due to the scraps created by the processes);
  4. name the section concerned;
  5. we enter the external diameter in millimeters;
  6. we enter the length of the pipe;

Note: if “1” = millimeters it can only be written in the corresponding column - Same speech for DN

We repeat everything for each stretch.

Let's read the results:

  • the pipeline will have an area of 43,36 m² (square meters);
  • the insulation will be 78,50 m² (square meters).

In the case of calculation with DN (nominal diameter) the procedure will be the same:

In the case of different insulation thicknesses, proceed in sections and add the results.

good job
