Calculation of equivalent lengths of special pieces

Calculation of equivalent lengths of special pieces

Simple program in which you just need to enter the quantities, the type of special pieces and the size of the gas pipe to obtain the equivalent length in meters

Itieffe is pleased to present this useful program dedicated to the "Calculation of equivalent lengths for special hydraulic pieces for gas pipes". In hydraulic engineering and fluid distribution networks, it is essential to accurately understand and calculate the equivalent lengths of special parts, such as bends, fittings and valves, in order to design efficient and functional hydraulic systems.

This program was developed to simplify the process of calculating equivalent lengths, providing a quick and effective solution for engineers, designers and technicians working in the hydraulics sector.

Over the course of this program, we will explore the following key aspects:

  1. Definition of equivalent lengths: We will start with a clear definition of what equivalent lengths are and why they are important in the analysis and design of hydraulic systems.
  2. Data input: We will guide you through the process of entering the data necessary for the calculation, including data relating to the type of gas, the type of special part, the dimensions and specific characteristics.
  3. Automatic calculation: the program will automatically perform the necessary calculations to determine the equivalent length of the special piece in question, based on the data provided.
  4. Detailed results: Detailed results, including intermediate calculations, will be provided for further understanding of the process.

This program is designed to save plumbing professionals time and effort, allowing them to focus more on system design and optimization. Proper evaluation of equivalent lengths is critical to ensuring that hydraulic systems are appropriately sized, energy efficient, and capable of meeting specific application needs.

We are confident that this program will prove to be a valuable tool in your daily tasks or projects related to hydraulic engineering, offering a quick and accurate solution for equivalent length calculations.

Calculation of equivalent lengths of special gas pipes

Simple program in which you just need to enter the quantities, the type of special pieces and the section of the gas pipe to obtain the equivalent length in metres.

How to proceed:

having measured the geometric development of the pipes, the equivalent lengths of the special pieces present are added to it, obtaining the virtual lengths.

By means of the latter and knowing the flow rate of the gas to be used, it becomes easy to trace the optimal diameter of the adduction pipe.

Based on the relative density of the gas and the type of pipe adopted (steel, copper or polyethylene), the corresponding prospectus is chosen (Table of gas flow rates according to UNI 7129 - 2008 and UNI 7129 - 2001 for manufactured gas - SEE) and the dimensioning is carried out section by section, adopting for the virtual lengths and capacities the values closest to the excess given by the elevation and from this obtaining the diameter to be adopted.

In summary:

  • geometric lengths +
  • equivalent lengths =
  • virtual lengths
